‘Masters of Sex’ season 3 spoilers: Sarah Silverman poised to return

We’ve seen over time a great tendency for Sarah Silverman to do great dramatic work, and last season she pulled this off with some appearances on Showtime’s “Masters of Sex” as Helen, the one-time love interest of the Betty character played by Annaleigh Ashford. Now, we know for sure that we are going to see more of her going into the third season.

Showtime has confirmed that there is a multi-episode arc ahead for Silverman, as Helen and Betty are trying to have a child and expand their family. While the show is jumping ahead to 1966 and this is a far more liberal time in terms of sexuality than where the show was previously, it is still not particularly accepting to many LGBT couples. Hopefully this remains a fantastic role for her, and we get a chance to have some updates on this story throughout the episodes ahead.

“Masters of Sex” will return to Showtime on July 12, and hopefully this is a series that serves, at least critically, as somewhat of a bounce-back. For one reason or another the series started to lose the attention of many awards-show voters in season 2, and we feel like some of that may have just been a symptom of how much time that they had to get new episodes together after shifting from airing in the fall to the summer. They’ve had a full year this time between seasons, and that gives them a little more time to focus in and hopefully produce some excellent content.
