‘American Crime’ season 2 spoilers: Elvis Nolasco and Richard Cabral to return
The cast of “American Crime” continues to expand for its upcoming second season … and for the time being, we are really just talking about returning cast members. Timothy Hutton, Felicity Huffman, and Regina Kind had already been confirmed to be coming back for more, and it was confirmed today that both Elvis Nolasco and Richard Cabral will also be coming back in new roles. Here is what executive producer John Ridley had to say on the subject to Deadline (it includes at least a few details about their roles):
“After playing individuals on the fringes of the law, Season 2 will offer complete role reversals for both Elvis and Richard,” series creator John Ridley told our sister site Deadline. “Elvis playing a fundamentally good man scapegoated by the system in which he works. Richard as someone who takes it upon himself to stand for the rights of others, even if it means he stands alone.”
We understand the appeal of returning to this show very much, since like “American Horror Story,” you have an opportunity here to disappear into a completely different role every single season. Not only that, but this is a quality show that has a chance of pulling Emmy nominations every year, and that is a hard thing to turn away from if you are being creatively fulfilled.
We imagine that there may still be a few more names that come up as a part of the cast, and also in time some new ones as well. “American Crime” is not returning for season 2 until 2016, so there is going to be a little bit of time for Ridley to get everything together (even if production is not that far away).
