‘Hannibal’ season 4: Bryan Fuller on big idea (if show returns)

Hannibal -Today, the sad news was announced that NBC has officially canceled “Hannibal” after three seasons, and while we are very disappointed to hear the news, there’s a pretty clear distinction between being bummed out and surprised. We understand why the network made the move; they kept the show around and promoted it pretty well going into this season, but the ratings just weren’t there. It has especially tanked the past two years.

Now, much of the pressure is now on the studio to try to find a new home for it somewhere else, and despite the lower numbers, we imagine that the arthouse nature of the show coupled with its wonderful fanbase could make it attractive. As we said earlier, we have Amazon at the top of our personal wishlist.

Speaking to TVLine, show creator Bryan Fuller definitely makes it clear that he has a plan for what the future of the show would be, provided of course that it actually gets a chance at coming back on the air:

“My idea for Season 4 was perhaps one of the coolest yet. So I would love to do it in some capacity … It would have explored the Hannibal-Will Graham relationship in a much deeper fashion than the series ever has before.”

While it would be great to see the show picked up almost immediately, we do not imagine that this is really going to be happening at any point in the reasonably-immediate future. The contract won’t be up for the cast for a while, and another suitor may wait to see what the ratings are for the majority of the third season.
