‘Penny Dreadful’ season 2, episode 9 preview: Will Eva Green’s Vanessa save Sir Malcolm?

This just in: The next new episode of “Penny Dreadful” on Showtime may freak out out. At the same time, it may also manage to entertain you even more than many other ones you’ve seen this season. Much of it seems to be building towards a showdown with Vanessa and Evelyn, and given how we have seen these two characters evolve over the course of the entire season (or at least however many appearances Evelyn has made), this could be potentially epic. At the center of all of it is saving Sir Malcolm, and that is something that Vanessa is very intent on accomplishing.

If you are a tremendous fan of Eva Green’s work, then this upcoming penultimate episode entitled “And Hell Itself My Only Foe” would be exciting. Everything that happens here will build almost directly into the finale, and given that the show has already been renewed for a third season, this gives you so much freedom to speculate over the future.

For the time being, the question that we wonder here is whether or not someone like Evelyn makes it through the rest of this season. Something happening to her would be shocking enough, but at the same time leave much of the core cast intact.

Also, we are curious next week to try and uncover whether or not Lily’s next move will be a particularly violent one, and to see what comes next for Dorian Gray after his inner self struck again.
