‘Pretty Little Liars’ season 6 spoilers: Troian Bellisario reveals massive time jump
We knew at some point on “Pretty Little Liars” season 6 there was going to be a very large time jump, presumably to find a way for the Liars to all go off to school, and then figure out a way to ultimately find each other yet again as a means to wrap up the story.
Well, we now know how long that flash-forward is going to be, and it is even longer than we thought it would be beforehand. Writing in a post on Instagram, Troian Bellisario claims that she just finished filming a scene in which her character of Spencer Hastings is now 24, which is a full decade older than how old she was at the start of the show. What this does mean ultimately is that there is a six-year time jump, since the Liars have yet to even graduate on the show at present. Why so long? Well, most students spend four years in college, and maybe there needed to be some more time in there for the characters to find themselves.
Regardless of the specific reason for the delay, we are happy to know that the show is taking a big risk like this before the final season. Also, it feels like it has been senior year for the Liars forever, and the fun that will come with them all being six years older is that they will not be so bound necessarily by specific periods of time anymore. There is a freedom to play around since there is no longer an issue of keeping them in high school.
