ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 8 spoilers: Who could be joining Stana Katic, Nathan Fillion, cast?

When the news was first reported that Penny Johnson Jerald was going to be exiting “Castle” before the start of season 8, we did very much assume that there would be some sort of at least metaphorical replacement. This does not necessarily mean that the new addition would be a captain per se, but they would at least be a part of the world of the show.

Now, we have a little more information on who that will be. According to TVLine, Rick (Nathan Fillion) and Kate (Stana Katic) are going to be joined on the new season by a character who goes by Hayley. What we know about her, at least for the time being, is fairly simple. She works as a “security specialist,” is a former NYPD cop, and is described as extremely smart as well as “free-spirited.” Specifically, producers are looking at Hispanic and African-American actresses for the part.

Could this person be a potential bodyguard-of-sorts for Beckett if she enters politics? Sure, or she could be a new NYPD recruit if Beckett is promoted to Captain. Both work in some way. The site reports that while she will be a series regular in one sense, it will be “fractional,” meaning that she will most-likely not appear in every episode.

Also, the show is in the process of also casting an “East Indian tech analyst” who will be a major recurring player throughout the eighth season. For the time being, “high-strung” is one of the terms used to describe them.
