‘The Astronaut Wives Club’ season 1, episode 2 preview: What’s next for JoAnna Garcia Swisher, cast?

Tonight, ABC officially premiered one of its most-ambitious new series of the summer in “The Astronaut Wives Club.” This marks a great opportunity for them to dive into period storytelling, and give us a little more insight into some women and how they may have lived at a time when the space race was in full effect, and astronauts were basically the scientific equivalent of rock stars.

Given this sort of fame, though, there were of course a variety of scandalous things that happened! The promo below is more of a look at the entire season than any individual episode coming up, and it features everything from infidelity to ambitious to at one point even a potential death. Space is a scary business; it’s a great unknown, and at the time of the series there was even less known about it than today.

Just in case you are interested in some specific news when it comes to next week’s episode, though, take a look at the synopsis below:

“As Louise and Alan Shepard bask in the success of his mission, Betty Grissom preps for Gus’ launch and turns to Louise for advice. And Annie Glenn grapples with her stutter, anticipating that the press will want to hear from her after John’s orbit is completed.”

We are curious to see how “The Astronaut Wives Club” does fare in the ratings tomorrow. Given that it does have a notable cast including JoAnna Garcia Swisher and Yvonne Strahovski, maybe it did manage to secure a little bit of attention for itself.
