‘Beauty and the Beast’ season 3, episode 2 review: ‘Primal Fear’ of the unknown
What we appreciated for the most part about Thursday night’s new “Beauty and the Beast” episode comes via the complexity of it all. Ultimately, it would have been rather easy for the writers to craft a story for the most part about Catherine and Vincent taking out some bad guys, and working to uncover a conspiracy that is leaving a trail of dead bodies and humans exhibiting strange, supernatural behavior. They did that, but what they also did in “Primal Fear” is show us a very different sort of human emotion that comes when peering into the great unknown.
For one example of that, just look at where Vincent was throughout the episode. This was a man who is capable of inflicting great harm and being a hero, but he was struggling at length when it comes to living with Catherine for the first time since their engagement. Having an awkward moment with a newly-single Heather does not help. He has to understand that adjusting to these circumstances is going to take time, and since he loves her and wants to be with her, he is going to work hard to ensure that the relationship lasts.
As for JT, he had to adjust to his insecurities he had regarding Tess and her siblings. This is a man who loves her very dearly, but her brothers are incredibly intimidating! While he may not know entirely what is going on with himself just yet, he at least is starting to get a handle on how to adjust to his own new life and the people around him.
One person who’s not adjusting anymore? Agent Thomas. At the end of the episode, it was revealed that he was killed, which we imagine blows up this investigation into these mutated men and women even more. While we do not know who is behind it entirely yet, this episode sets a strong foundation for what is to come. Grade: B.

I thought it was great.but Vincent seems to have lost his beast skills. No blurrying away,no tracking. Male viewer’s need there blood and guts,or their not happy. Critics too. Its good saving innocent Superhumans. But we want the Beast to beast up. Catherine does not talk to criminals. When their trying to kill her or Tess.
Why must we have a geriatric. Vincent.
