‘MasterChef’ season 6, episode 7 preview: The breakfast blitz

MasterChef -Next week on “MasterChef,” we are drifting back to the familiar Mystery Box / Elimination Challenge contest, but for the most part we’ve got to say that we’re okay with it given the circumstances. After all, we are set to see two contests specifically that are not frequently highlighted.

First, let’s discuss the basic conceit of the Mystery Box: Breakfast. Who doesn’t love a little breakfast? This is the sort of meal that we could eat almost any time of the day, mostly because we are one of those crazy people who loves breakfast and could eat it all day, every day. There are so many different interesting dishes that could come out of familiar ingredients. Granted, trying to elevate them at times may be tricky, since there is so much technique involved.

Meanwhile, the Elimination Challenge will feature a very different struggle: Trying to make what look to be “MasterChef”-designed TV dinners. This just seems fairly fun to us, at least until someone gets told off for what appears to be really bad broccoli. We have no idea how this is supposed to work! The whole idea of a TV dinner is that they are mediocre food that you stick in the oven, and then eat while the family sits around and watches something.

At the moment, we’re not sure if there is a standalone favorite, but to us Stephen surged upward after his extremely impressive turn as team leader tonight. He inspired his team, and they wanted to make him happy at the end of the day. This is so key to being successful.
