‘So You Think You Can Dance’ auditions: Asaf Goren blows us away
We haven’t written too much this season when it comes to “So You Think You Can Dance,” and it is not by any means because we feel the current pool of contestants to be lacking. The real truth here is just that we have seen so many different seasons of the show at this point, and with that there are few contestants who manage to actually stand out and show themselves to be something a little more special.
Did Asaf Goren do that? It’s fair to say so. He was a Hebrew breakdancer, which on its own is not exactly something that we have ever seen before over the course of the series. To go along with that, he implemented some more of his culture into the routine. It wasn’t just a standard b-boy routine, and the audience was right to go completely nuts over the performance.
Is Asaf the sort of guy who could make it all the way to the end of the season? It’s possible, and he could be benefited more from the whole Stage vs. Street theme. He will probably still stand out very much surrounded by his other competitors, and if he makes it far enough, should be remembered fondly from this audition.
As a whole, we’re enjoying this season, even if we think that the new judging panel has not entirely meshed just yet. This is a show that will always be about the quality of the dancers more so than anything else, and we have some great ones.
