‘Halt and Catch Fire’ season 2, episode 4 preview: ‘Play with Friends’

Halt and Catch Fire -Tonight, AMC’s “Halt and Catch Fire” delivered what was an epic punch of an episode containing a variety of hugely significant moments from start to finish, with one of the biggest ones to us merely being that Joe MacMillan seems to have some of his old mojo back. That is great news for his runaway ambition, but at the same time we’re not sure it is great for everyone else. Sure, he is incredibly successful at what he does, but at the same time he eventually finds a way to either metaphorically or literally burn it to the ground.

Next week’s episode is entitled “Play with Friends,” and the double-meaning to us here appears obvious. Sure, you can think about the state of Mutiny and what they are trying to do, but you also have Lee Pace’s character collaborating once again with Gordon. The short synopsis below is the proof in the pudding:

“Joe and Gordon reunite to bring about Joe’s vision; tensions run high between Cameron and Donna.”

It is fairly easy to tell where the tension lies between Donna and Cameron; both are committed to the business, but in different ways. Donna brings more of the money sense, while Cameron has more of the creativity and the passion. Both want probably something close to the same thing, but they actually need to learn how to trust each other if they want this off the ground. So far, neither one of them has managed to go more than an episode without hiding something.
