‘The Fall’ season 3: Jamie Dornan on current appeal of TV
At the moment, there is not too much known just yet about the third season of “The Fall,” save of course for the fact that it is happening and that Jamie Dornan is once again going to be a part of it as Paul.
One of the good things about Emmy season, though, is that we are getting many opportunities to hear actors speak a little bit about their roles on various shows that could be nominated. We’ve already made our opinion clear that Dornan is worthy of a nomination in the Actor in a Drama Series category, and hopefully others will jump on board this, as well.
What we can at least tell you for now is what Jamie told The Hollywood Reporter about his future plans, and while he is still as interested in TV as ever, even though he does now have newfound fame thanks to the “Fifty Shades of Grey” film franchise:
“It’s funny, but for the first time in my life, I’m presented with an element of choice as an actor — maybe just a tiny element of choice. (Laughs.) I kind of want to abuse it. It’s all about chasing interesting characters and scripts, whether on TV, big-budget movies or tiny indie movies. I would never pressure myself to choose just one. That said, some of the best writing is on TV. You get a chance to play with a character year after year. That’s a luxury that you don’t get in film.”
One of the great things in particular about “The Fall” is that it does short, six-episode seasons that don’t require the same production commitment as some American shows, and there are also no specific time windows. He can be gone for a year or two to do other things, and then return with Gillian Anderson to do more work with on the BBC Two series.
