‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 7 spoilers: Expect a larger story for Enzo

When Michael Malarkey was promoted to series regular for the sixth season of “The Vampire Diaries,” it is pretty fair to say that we were excited. However, then we saw what happened to the character throughout the season, and it felt like something was lacking. Even the show’s own executive producers have admitted that they did not at times do as much with him as they originally wanted. We ultimately think a big part of that was having to deal with all of the departures last season, and making sure that they all received their proper due.

The great thing about next season, though, is that it does represent a new start, and therefore a chance to see what sort of cool things that the writers can do with a wide variety of these characters. While you are not going to get too much in the way of concrete Enzo scoop just yet, we can at least present to you the following message from Caroline Dries on the subject via E! News:

“I’m really looking forward to how Enzo gets put in the middle of Lily’s heretic world and the Damon/Mystic Falls/Caroline world in season seven … He needs to figure out which side he’s on and who he’s loyal to. There’s going to be some major fallout to that.”

To us, the more of Enzo and Damon the show gives us, the happier they will be. It was their dynamic that originally had us as excited as we were about the first season to begin with, and that is hopefully something we’ll be talking about beginning in October when the show returns.
