‘Halt and Catch Fire’ season 2, episode 2 preview: Joe and Jacob Wheeler talk things out

James Cromwell is the sort of actor who you really want to see in just about everything. He was sensational in “American Horror Story: Asylum,” and we are very curious to see what he does on “Halt and Catch Fire” as Jacob Wheeler, a very intriguing man who gets caught in Joe’s orbit for both personal and professional reasons.

Without getting too deep into the sneak peek below from Sunday’s episode just yet, let’s start this off by merely explaining who Jacob is. He is a self-made millionaire and energy company head in Texas, and someone who has now problem seeking out power or potential investments. He sees something in Joe, and as he puts it to him, he is not just interested in hiring him because he is with his daughter Sara.

Jacob makes a very important point here to Joe that he should consider, and it is strictly this: Where else are you going to go? No doubt Joe is completely brilliant at what he does, but at the same exact time we are talking here about a guy who has not exactly managed to keep a job for very long. The last we saw him with a steady position, he was setting computers on fire. He literally halted and allowed them to catch fire, which is probably one of the closest things we’re ever going to get to a literal representation of the show’s title.

The preview does not offer up too much more in the way of information, but we are very much intrigued to know where this story goes from here. We’ll learn Sunday night!
