‘Chicago Med’ premiere pushed forward to fall; NBC delays ‘Heartbreaker’

For everyone who wanted to see “Chicago Med” sooner rather than later, it feels like you may now have your wish! Originally scheduled for midseason, the spin-off series to “Chicago Fire” is now going to air this fall on Tuesday nights. Specifically, it will occupy the 9:00 p.m. Eastern timeslot originally set for another medical series in “Heartbreaker.”

So why the change? This is a simple matter of real-life circumstances shaking thanks up. Due to “Heartbreaker” star Melissa George’s pregnancy, that show is undergoing a revised production schedule, and will be coming out now a little bit later in the season (possibly whenever “Chicago Med” was originally planning to come on the air). This series will still happen, but you will have to wait for a little while longer.

Now, “Chicago Med” is interestingly going to get a chance to air before even the latest season of “Chicago Fire,” which is not premiering until November thanks to the Neil Patrick Harris variety show, which is going to be on in its timeslot during the first few weeks of the season. Harris is getting a chance to do something with this show that we have not seen on network TV in some time. While we’re not entirely sure just yet that it will work, NBC is clearly on the hunt for as much live television as possible, given that they just ordered a full batch of live episodes of “Undateable” season 3.

We’ll have more news on “Chicago Med” as time passes, so stay tuned!
