‘Empire’ season 2: See Taraji P. Henson, Terence Howard goof around in new Guys Choice Awards promo

On Thursday, June 18, you have an opportunity to check out in full the Guys Choice Awards airing over on Spike … but you don’t have to wait that long at all to have a little bit of fun with show co-hosts Taraji P. Henson and Terence Howard!

In the video below, you can see a variety of behind-the-scenes bloopers from the two stars’ recent promotional shoot for the awards show, which includes Terence trying to proclaim he is the only star of “Empire,” Taraji accidentally letting a little bit of Cookie Lyon out into the world, fantasies about The Rock, and reminders that Liam Neeson is incredibly awesome. It’s a fun video to watch, mostly because you don’t always get to see the more humorous side of Howard on the Fox series. (Taraji, meanwhile, is someone we’ve at least seen a funny side of more so because of her gig hosting “Saturday Night Live” recently.)

The Guys Choice Awards have always been a fun showcase, but also a relatively-forgotten awards show in a summer landscape that includes so many other programs of this kind, whether it be the MTV Movie Awards, the VMAs later in the year, the Teen Choice Awards, the Emmys, the Critics’ Choice Awards, and a ton of country music awards shows … just to name a few. The premise of the two “Empire” stars at the top of their game is a nice boost to the show, and we’ll see what it does in the ratings.

Meanwhile, “Empire” season 2 will premiere on Fox come September 23.
