‘America’s Got Talent’ preview: Mel B’s Golden Buzzer moment teased!

We still cannot speak highly enough about the Golden Buzzer as one of those great little tweaks to a reality show that can amp it up to the next level. For example, think of what the presence of the steal did to make the battle rounds on “The Voice” that much more interesting.

“America’s Got Talent” is implementing the twist fully this year, which means in turn that anyone who gets the buzzer pressed for them automatically gets a ticket to the next round. We’ve already seen both Howard Stern and Howie Mandel press the buzzer, and in the video below, Mel B does the same! Note that this does not guarantee that Mel actually presses it in this episode, though, given that we had a preview last week showing Heidi Klum do it, and we still haven’t actually seen that happen yet.

If we could give the judges on the U.S. show a lesson in buzzer-pressing, though, it would be this: You really don’t need to tell us every step of your process! Just press it, and take us completely by surprise. Howard and Howie each gave us some lead-up to how they were about to “create some special moment” beforehand.

That’s a minor quibble, though; the promo below teases a wide array of acts, whether it be dance crews, circus performers, and a few others who may take you by surprise. We’ve seen some good acts so far, but we’d say that by a large margin Freckled Skye has to be a favorite. What they’ve done so far is an evolution of many of the other dance groups we’ve seen the past few seasons.
