‘Bones’ season 10, episode 21: Angela’s real name is…
It’s interesting in a way to have so much hype in a “Bones” episode be around something as simple as a name, but that is precisely what happened on Thursday night’s new episode leading up to finally learning what Angela’s actual name is … and it may surprise you. (Warning: Spoilers ahead!)
So what is it? Think along the lines of “Pookie Noodlin.” It’s a completely crazy name, but in some ways we are glad that it is out there. Had the show not gone with something that was so completely out of left field, it would be hard to justify why the character kept it away from everyone for so long. “Pookie” is often better suited as either a pet name, or something that you call a pet. As it turns out, though, there is at least some logic behind the creation of the name. As executive producer Stephen Nathan tells TVLine, this was the combination of ideas from him and fellow EP Hart Hanson:
“[Hart] had a name in the file that he had thought of. We just put them together … We’ve been making names for years… At a certain point, you just have to jump in the pool.”
As for the reason why Angela never changed said name legally, that really just comes down to the fact that the name has an emotional connection to her father. That’s enough of a reason for it to be kept there officially, but that does not mean that she has to use it in any form.
