‘The Late Show with Stephen Colbert’ showcases new logo, beard-themed video

Late -Are you ready for “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” to premiere? Well, you still have to wait until September 8 for that! However, CBS is already doing everything in their power to promote the show just two weeks after David Letterman officially retired.

With that in mind, check out one of the first official logos for the show to the left of this article! It’s not exactly the most catching one we’ve ever seen, and feels almost more like a title card for a 1990s sitcom than it does a modern-day comedy show. Then again, the color choice here is interesting given that red, white, and blue were the same palette that we saw Stephen use as his fake “Stephen Colbert” character while on Comedy Central’s “The Colbert Report.” Maybe that’s a coincidence, or maybe we’re reading way too much into this.

In addition to all of this, CBS has launched already an official site for the show, which you can find everything from mini-podcasts to videos to some other teases about the show. You can see one below that is all about Stephen’s famed beard, which he grew during his time away from the show.

Overall, this is a fun idea to get the word out about the new show, but in addition to that, it’s a great way to convince everyone to meet the real Stephen. This is not the same guy who mocked politicians on Comedy Central, and his struggle will be separating from that early enough that people differentiate him.
