‘Pretty Little Liars’ season 6, episode 1 review: Sara Harvey and Charles’ many mysteries
Throughout the entire “Pretty Little Liars” hiatus, there were countless questions floating across the internet in regards to Charles. Who is he, and what does he want? Tormenting the Liars has obviously been very high on his priority list, but the same can be said for Mona and Ali on a different level.
Within the confines of the Dollhouse, the Liars were just as preoccupied with trying to escape as they were with finding out anything about Charles, who the prevailing wisdom suggests is Alison DiLaurentis’ long-lost brother. He is clearly acting on some sort of pent-up rage and heartache, given the fact that he seems almost fascinated in recreating some sort of lost childhood within the house. The rescue mission was as dramatic as you would expect, especially when you consider that the mission also entailed having to rescue Mona (as Ali) from a pit.
On the outside, some of the boys and Ali worked to find the Liars, and what they uncovered in the end was more than just our main characters … we also found Sara Harvey. Remember her? She’s been missing for a long time, and it was honestly a name we forgot until she showed up.
So going out of the premiere, some of the larger mysteries at the moment include whether Charles really is Ali’s brother, how Andrew fits into the bigger picture, and also how in the world the Liars all still looked reasonably okay after being in the Dollhouse for so long. The show’s kind of wacky like that, but at least the premiere was for the most part fun. Grade: B+.
