‘Arrested Development’ season 5 will (finally) happen in 2016

For all of those waiting for a time to bust out their favorite pair of jean shorts, prepare to do so now! “Arrested Development” executive producer Brian Grazer was a guest today on Adam Carolla’s podcast, and in speaking to him, confirmed that there is going to be a fifth season of the show next year. Production is going to take place early next year, and it should premiere at some point months after that.

Obviously, this is tremendous news, and something that we were not quite sure was going to happen for a while. With this show, the biggest concern is always trying to figure out if the scheduling can work out. Will Arnett is working with Netflix on another project, Jeffrey Tambor has “Transparent,” and Portia de Rossi was recently upgraded to a series regular on “Scandal.” It’s with all of this in mind that we imagine season 5 will have a somewhat-similar format to season 4, at least in that there will be very few scenes featuring the entire cast together in the same room. This just means that creator Mitch Hurwitz and the writers have to get creative, but they are more than capable of that.

We previously heard that season 5 of the series will be comprised of 17 episodes, and we’ll hold to that for the time being mostly out of pure excitement if it happens. This is one of our favorite comedies of all time, and any chance we have to see more of it is something that we are definitely going to embrace.

So for now, just head down to your favorite frozen banana stand and celebrate! (We really wish we were in Newport Beach right now.)
