Fox may revive ‘Prison Break’ as limited series as Dominic Purcell and Wentworth Miller
We really want to start this article by making a comparison between Fox executives and the White Walkers from “Game of Thrones,” but out of fear of about 100 or so people yelling “no spoilers!!!” at us, we shall move forward with the article.
As first reported by TVLine, Fox is currently developing a revival of “Prison Break” that would be the same sort of closed-ended, limited-series format that “24: Live Another Day” was when it first premiered last year. This new series would bring back series stars Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell, who ironically are getting to co-star together over on The CW’s “Legends of Tomorrow” come midseason. (Warning: “Prison Break” spoilers are ahead.)
Granted, we have no idea how the world something like this could even work at the moment, given that Michael is within the world of the show dead … or at least that’s how we presumed him to be. Maybe this is all some sort of trick, or the writers are working it into a new time period? Another possibility is a prequel, but we don’t tend to love those very much since we already know where the story is going for the most part.
Bringing back the show would be a nice nod to some of the series’ longtime fans, but also at the same time a reminder that maybe Fox is lagging somewhat in the original ideas department other than “Empire.” “The X-Files” is already coming back, we’ve heard that they are considering another “24” with a new male lead, and “Minority Report” is being adapted into a TV series airing this fall. In this case, though, we don’t really mind.
