‘Britain’s Got Talent’ final results: Was Cor Glanaethwy, Jules O’Dwyer and Matisse, or Jamie Raven the winner?
The “Britain’s Got Talent” final certainly managed to bring a lot to the table in terms of entertainment … and it also gave us quite a big of surprise.
For those of you who do tend to bemoan the typical singers / dancers winning the show, what we had tonight was a case of neither coming out on top. While choir Cor Glanaethwy made it into the top three, they are not the sort of act that can go over to “The X Factor” and win the grand prize there. They were present at the top alongside dog act Jules O’Dwyer & Matisse, and also magician Jamie Raven. While a dog act has won the competition before, this would be the first time that either a choir or a magician has ever won the British version of the show. (Mat Franco just became last year the first-ever magician to take home the title on the American version of the show.)
The person really hurt probably the most in the results of the final vote was Calum Scott, who really entered the night as the favorite before his rendition of “Diamonds” contained a major flub of the lyrics. While the judges did not hold it against him, this probably hurt him with the viewers at home.
As expected, Ant and Dec made us wait as long as possible before revealing the winner. Surprisingly, the choir came in third place (we thought that the Welsh voters would really turn out!), while Jamie scored the runner-up spot. Matisse wins! The dog act probably benefited somewhat from getting the prime performance slot at the end of the show, but she continued to deliver with entertainment and even a touching story. That’s what tends to make her stand out compared to so many other trained dogs out there.
