‘So You Think You Can Dance’ season 12 video: New judges Jason Derulo, Paula Abdul speak out

The premiere of “So You Think You Can Dance” season 12 is coming to Fox on Monday night, and change is something that you are going to be seeing almost right away on the show. After all, how else do you explain the fact that you now have a “Stage v. Street” theme coming your way, and that you also have two new judges aboard the show in Paula Abdul and Jason Derulo. Sure, they each have some previous experience aboard the series, but this is the first time they have been in this particular role full-time.

In the video below, you can see the two alongside judge / executive producer Nigel Lythgoe describe some of what they bring to the table. This is the first time in many seasons that the show has actually had a consistent panel of three judges; previously, what we saw was a group that consisted of two judges and then a rotating guest. Jason and Paula both have roots in dance, and at the same time they also have gone on to do many other things.

While we do like the new judging panel, we do also have to remind you of something else that is imperative here: A good panel of people only goes so far! The entire success of this show is really going to depend heavily on the roster of dancers that the show finds, and whether or not they prove to be excellent in every style they try.
