‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 12 spoilers: Is a new male doctor entering the fold?

“Grey’s Anatomy” obviously lost a key cast member when Patrick Dempsey departed the show during season 11, but it appears already that the show is doing its best to make some plans for the future … and that includes getting a new male doctor on board.

According to a report from TVLine, the ABC series is already in the process of casting an actor (one reasonably well-known is preferred) in his late thirties to late forties to play a good-looking and intelligent new doctor on the show. He will also be a series regular. We’re not going to say that this person is for sure going to be a replacement in any way for Derek on the show, but we certainly would not be shocked if this assumption is made based on the information that we have.

The twelfth season of the show is going to be premiering on the network this fall, and given that filming will most-likely begin at some point in July, there will be at least a little bit of time for the series to figure this one.

If there is one enormous selling point for this actor, it is that they won’t necessarily be thrown into the fire with insane work days. This is a show with an enormous cast, and this allows almost everyone to share a good percentage of the work load. It’s a little bit different from some of the earlier years of the show, where quite a few cast members were working insane hours.
