‘Empire’ season 2 premiere date official; Taraji P. Henson confirms
“Empire” fans, rejoice! Taraji P. Henson is bringing to you today the good news in regards to when the Fox series is going to be back with all-new episodes: Wednesday, September 23. Based on the schedule that Fox has released already, this also does confirm that it will air at 9:00 p.m. Eastern time (8:00 Central).
Of course, this is great news for fans specifically of this show, but it does also stretch a little bit beyond this, as well. This is also further confirmation that the beginning of Fox’s fall schedule will most-likely start on Monday, September 21, which makes that more or less the official start of the fall season. It really could have been either this date or Monday, September 28, depending on what some of the networks decided and how they wanted to divide things up.
The second season of “Empire” is already slated to have a variety of big-name guest stars, with Chris Rock, Alicia Keys, and Lenny Kravitz all already on board. There of course will also be the majority of the season 1 cast, and we’ve heard that Ne-Yo is going to be working alongside Timbaland on some of the show’s music. Timbaland was more of the sole influence behind the season 1 music.
For this show in particular, the major challenge is a mere one of trying to match expectations. For the first season, nobody anticipated that it was going to become the #1 show on broadcast TV ahead of “The Voice” or “The Big Bang Theory.” There were weeks when it was not that far behind “The Walking Dead,” which is the highest-rated scripted show on TV, period. Part of this is due to the cast, while another part is merely viewers looking for something new.
