‘American Horror Story: Hotel’ spoilers: ‘New Girl’ star Max Greenfield signs on

American Horror Story -How about this for a Memorial Day surprise? We thought we had received for the most part already the more notable castings on “American Horror Story: Hotel,” only for executive producer Ryan Murphy to make a big announcement: Max Greenfield is coming aboard!

The “New Girl” actor is going to be playing a part that is seemingly very different, judging from Murphy’s Twitter, from anything that we have seen from the actor over the course of his career so far. Also, it seems already like this is not the sort of role that is going to lead to the character coming out of the hotel alive. We’d question whether or not Murphy is spoiling his own show by saying that he is “not checking out,” but don’t you just assume that the majority of the people on this show are dying to begin with?

Murphy does have a habit of casting surprising people for his shows, and this follows a tradition that was established all the way back when Eric Stonestreet guest-starred in the first season. Lady Gaga is the big surprise casting of this season, but more still could be coming.

Given that Greenfield is a series regular over on the aforementioned Fox comedy, we’d be surprised if this is more than a two or three episode arc for him. There’s only going to be so much time available in his schedule for him to take on this role.

The new season of “American Horror Story” will premiere starting in October, and as Sarah Paulson recently said, don’t believe some of the rumored “cast lists” that are floating around out there. We’ll have more official news as it comes out.
