‘Fuller House’ spoilers: Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen not returning as Michelle
There were many who benefited heavily from the original “Full House,” but as far as young stars go, none benefited quite like the Olsen Twins. Mary-Kate and Ashley became household names as a result of taking part in the sitcom, and went on to do a variety of movies and specials that made them millions upon millions. Now, the two are making their living within the world of fashion.
When we first heard the news that the show was returning to Netflix as “Fuller House,” there was immediately speculation as to whether or not they would return. This speculation then led to a fairly-heated back-and-forth about whether or not the twins actually knew about the project before it was announced. John Stamos blasted them for pleading ignorance, but then apparently all parties talked things out in the end.
However, they apparently did not talk it out in a way that is leading to the twins appearing on the show. As executive producer Robert L. Boyett tells The Hollywood Reporter, Michelle is not coming back in any form:
“Although Ashley and Mary-Kate will not be a part of Fuller House, I know how much Full House has meant to them, and they are still very much considered family … It has been exciting to see how they have built their professional careers, and I support their choice to focus on their fashion brands and various business endeavors. I appreciate their support and good wishes towards Fuller House.”
This is somewhat of a blow to the series, at least in the way that the two of them would have generated so much more interest. However, the project does still have Stamos as an executive producer, and Candice Cameron Bure, Dave Coulier, Jodie Sweetin, and Andrea Barber all coming back. There’s still no word as to Bob Saget’s participation in the show.
