‘The Good Wife’ season 7 spoilers: Matthew Goode exits, will continue on ‘Downton Abbey’
There’s some good news and bad news for fans of Matthew Goode permeating throughout the internet on Friday.
Let us begin here for now with the bad. According to a new report from TVLine, the actor is not going to return as Finn for the upcoming seventh season of “The Good Wife.” Given how many were rooting for him and Alicia as a potential couple, we understand that there will be a little bit of sadness here. However, at the same time it cannot be viewed as any sort of enormous surprise. Finn rejected an offer from Julianna Margulies’ character to join her new law firm in the season 6 finale, so it was clear he was going to be going away. This may potentially open the door for more of Michael J. Fox as Louis Canning, but his status on season 7 is not entirely clear as of this writing.
Meanwhile, the site reports that Goode will be presumably appearing much more on season 6 of “Downton Abbey,” where he was a potential love interest for Lady Mary (Michelle Dockery) during the season 5 Christmas Special. We do not necessarily feel like he left one show for another, given that the ITV series (which airs on PBS in America) has been filming for the past couple of months, and “The Good Wife” does not even begin production until around the time that “Downton Abbey” is wrapping up.
Obviously this is the second major creative shift of the season for the CBS drama, which also officially lost Archie Panjabi in the finale. Yes, we are still extremely bitter about the fact that for whatever reason, she and Margulies “filmed” their final scene together at separate times.
