‘Outlander’ season 1, episode 16 (finale) spoilers: A time of great secrecy

Perhaps the thing that is the most interesting, at least at the moment, about the “Outlander” season 1 finale is just how hush-hush the folks over at Starz have opted to be about it. This is a network that has had almost no problem at all being open in regards to some things, including sharing various photos, sneak peeks, and other matters when it comes to their episodes in advance.

So why change things up for “To Ransom a Man’s Soul,” the last episode of season 1? The answer to that is twofold, but we begin with something that is perhaps most important at the moment: There is simply not going to be anything new on Starz this weekend! Due to it being Memorial Day Weekend, a time when many families either go away or spend some time outdoors, a number of people have no interest in sitting down and watching television. There’s not the same demand for new television then.

So while a delay of a week is somewhat unusual at the end of a season, it makes a little more sense here given that fans are passionate and will be tuning in regardless.

Another reason for the secrecy, at least for the time being, seems to be fairly simple in that the show wants to keep almost everything under wraps. Is the show based on a book series? Sure, but there is no firm guarantee that events on the show are going to happen in the same way and under the same circumstances as they happen in the books. Therefore, there is still potential for a surprise.

For some fun while you wait, we’ve included a fun video below of Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan. That is all … at least for now.
