‘Chicago PD’ season 3 spoilers: Sophia Bush looks to Lindsay’s future

Lindsay -The finale of “Chicago PD” on Wednesday night definitely created quite a few interesting story possibilities. On one side of the coin, you have something good when it comes to Ruzek and Burgess, and the two characters can start to figure out just how they want to plan out their own future now that they are a couple. However, at the same time we also have situations like what has befallen Erin Lindsay. She decided in the finale that after dealing with the death of Nadia, experiencing a near-death situation herself, and falling back somewhat into old ways, she would be better off stepping away from police work and turned in her badge.

Will this be a permanent move? It’s doubtful, but it does put the show in an interesting place moving into season 3. Even Sophia Bush at the moment does not now how the story will continue, judging from what she had to say in a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter:

“That kind of breakdown of your psyche is the thing that I’m looking forward to delving further into as the season picks up. We’re a little bit unsure as to what the time jump will be. Last season it had to be about six weeks. Now the writers are talking about, will it be six days? Or six weeks again? What will it look like? What are the ramifications? If it is more than a month, how far has Lindsay gone? Where will we find her? If it’s six days, is she just going to be on a little bit of a bender? At this point, nothing is set in stone. It’s really a conversation but we’re certainly picking apart all of the options and trying to figure out what will be best. There’s a part of me that would like for us to pick up the day after she quits and see what happens. Hopefully it will take a couple of episodes for her to want to go back. As much as I agreed that she would make a very immediate, cutthroat decision about the wrong working environment at the task force, I would like for this to not wrap itself up so quickly.”

We are with Bush in that we hope the premiere doesn’t just sudden reinstate Lindsay into the force for the sake of keeping things too procedural. While we don’t want her away for a full season, this seems like a great avenue to explore for three or four episodes. What does she do without having a badge, and what could be done to bring her back? These are fascinating things to explore.
