‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ season 3 spoilers: Could Kyra Sedgwick return?
There were many reasons why the second season of “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” was so funny in particular, but one of the biggest ones was the presence of a certain Kyra Sedgwick. The former star of “The Closer” made her debut early on in the season as Captain Holt’s chief rival Wunch, and he continued to make her presence felt ultimately from start to finish. She is the reason now why Holt and by extension Gina are away from the Nine-Nine, and a new captain (who we have yet to meet) is now in there in his place.
So could we see more of Kyra on the show’s upcoming third season? At the moment, this is definitely the plan. Executive producer Mike Schur tells TVLine that pending availability, they would love to have her back causing more problems for Holt and company:
“She fit in so well … I’m sure that she’s fending off other shows offering her stuff, but she’s so interesting. She’s such a complex human being.”
One of the nice things about the way this character is implemented in particular into the show is that you can remove her from the equation, and then at the same time bring her back later and have it make sense. She doesn’t need to be a part of the story for a while, though it is always nice to have her around.
The third season of the comedy should premiere on Sunday nights this fall. We’ll have some more news soon enough.
