ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 8 spoilers: More on Stana Katic, potential episode count

How long will “Castle” season 8 run? Over the course of the past week or two, there has been a good bit of speculation surrounding whether or not ABC could opt for a shorter run of around 13 episodes to accommodate actors’ schedules, or a way to just get together a season that set up for a proper series finale.

However, it is not looking very much possible that we could be seeing a whole lot more than that! As reported by TVLine, the deal that Stana Katic signed to return has her appearing in all of the “22 or 23 episodes” coming up. While that’s not official confirmation from ABC that the show is getting the full-season treatment, it is certainly a strong indication that the show could head in this direction.

Ultimately, we would be very much pleased if the show lasts that long, and it does benefit the network to have an established scripted hit. While the ratings are not what they once were, it keeps Monday nights pretty stable and in the event that some new shows fail, ABC can use those timeslots to try out some other series. Tuesdays and Sundays are currently the two nights on the schedule right now in need of the biggest lifeline. Thursdays are solid, Mondays have been buoyed by “Dancing with the Stars” stabilized, and the comedy block Wednesdays performs well consistently.

Expect to see Stana back with her co-star Nathan Fillion filming new episodes later this summer. We’ll have more news as it comes out.
