‘True Detective’ season 2 trailer: See Vince Vaughn, Colin Farrell, and plenty of intrigue
Earlier this past week, HBO unveiled what is a first look at the upcoming second season of “True Detective.” How would we describe it at the moment? The best word is “sinister.” There’s almost a specter hovering over it, and it is one constantly reminding us of how creepy this show can be with the right creative time around.
While we find this trailer to be particularly well done, we would be lying if we said that we were completely without fear when it comes to what could lie ahead. There are new directors this season, which means that we will be without the glorious long shots from Cary Fukunaga that made the first season so easy to identify.
Still, this trailer gives you your first extended looks at many of the main characters, including Vince Vaughn as Ray Velcoro, the career criminal whose inner and outer struggle will be front and center for the majority of the story. This is the character and the tale that we are ultimately the most interested in fixating on, since much of the action could lie around him.
Does this mean that there is a significant amount of pressure on Vaughn to deliver? Sure, but he more than likely realizes that this pressure is here in the first place. He took this role knowing that eyes were going to be on. We’re already confident in the rest of the cast, including Taylor Kitsch, Rachel McAdams, and Colin Farrell.
