ABC’s ‘Scandal’ season 5 spoilers: Guillermo Diaz unsure of Huck’s future

Are we going to potentially see more of Huck when “Scandal” season 5 comes on ABC in the fall? We definitely know that this is something that Guillermo Diaz probably wants to see happen, and so do we given that his character is one of the most beloved cast members on the show. However, at the same exact time this is a Shonda Rhimes series, and she is not exactly someone to bring someone back to a show just because they are popular with viewers.

What makes the situation with Huck even crazier at the moment is that even during filming for the finale, there were so many different changes and shoots that it was not always clear what was going to be in the finale cut. Speaking to TV Guide, Diaz admitted that at the moment, he’s not sure just what is going to happen:

“A couple of weeks ago, she emailed us all and said the ending was changed. In the original script, Quinn ends up walking away from Huck and obviously doesn’t shoot him. So who knows what’s gonna happen, but that’s what makes Scandal so exciting. Shonda is not afraid to get rid of characters that are popular on the show or regulars like myself. Now we have to wait and see. I have no idea if I’m dead or alive! We have no idea. It’s been that way from the beginning. They don’t give us a heads up about anything. It’s exciting because it makes you just focus on your work in the moment, keep it fresh and organic.”

While all of this may be true, we should say here that we firmly do expect to see Huck back in season 5. While Rhimes does kill off characters, there’s no reason to get rid of him now. Most of the killings on her shows have been cast members interested in departing.
