‘The Good Wife’ finale shocker: Julianna Margulies, Archie Panjabi reportedly did not film scene together

We really enjoyed watching the season 6 finale of “The Good Wife,” and one of the reasons why was that we did was for the excitement of finally getting a chance to see Archie Panjabi and Julianna Margulies together for the same time in a scene in years. There have been rumors for some time that the two may have a contentious relationship off-camera, but at the same time, we have always justified the lack of screen time for them as natural. Given what happened between Kalinda and Alicia seasons ago, it made sense that they would not be spending much time together.

Now, we know that the final “scene” between the two actors was an illusion. As first reported by Michael Ausiello TVLine in what is a strong and poignant piece, Margulies and Panjabi did not actually film that final scene together, and body doubles were used instead.

To us, the idea of this is mostly heartbreaking that viewers waited for so many years to see two characters together on the screen, and that did not happen for some reason. We’re not going to get into the specifics of it, since we don’t know the situation and we don’t want to start to sound petty. All we know is that given these two are series regulars, this could not have been an issue of scheduling.

Ultimately, we are not going to hold this as an indictment on the show doing something wrong; it’s unfair to punish everyone else for something that everyone wanted not fully coming to pass. It’s just sad, and obviously this was news that many on the show never wanted to come out.
