‘Ink Master’ season 6: Masters vs Apprentices spotlight: MV vs Brian Stephens
There is something that we just love about MV and Brian Stephens and we think that it’s the respect they have for each other. We also love the idea behind being someone’s mentor or being someone’s apprentice and how important that is to becoming a great tattoo artist. We get that all the apprentices and masters want to show how great they are on “Ink Master” and win the title, but these two show us something a little different then any of the other artists: Respect for an apprenticeship.
With this kind of mutual respect for each other and the craft, it makes it hard to sit here and say that we want one to win over the other. Can there be a double winner this season? This is a show known for it’s blow ups and stressful situations, so this is a breath of fresh air. That being said, let’s see what these two have to offer as far as their skills.
Master: MV
Tattooing: He has been tattooing for 6.5 years and is an owner/artist at Blue Panda Tattoo in El Paso, TX. He loves to tattoo realism and he’s fantastic at both color and black and gray.

Apprentice: Brian Stephens
Tattooing: Tattooing 3.5 years and is an artist at Dapper Ink Tattoo in El Paso, TX. he is a specialist in neotraditional tattoos.

MV vs Brian: Like we said we loved to hear Brian say in the spotlight video (you can see that below) that it’s an artists’ apprenticeship defines them as an artist. the one thing we worry about when it comes to both of these guys is that they both have a lot less experience in the industry then many of the other artists in this competition. Brian has only 1.5 years more experience then Katie who is coming to the competition as an Apprentice. It’s not always about years behind you in this craft, but with most of the roster this season having 10 years plus experience it’s tough not to look at that as a hurdle for them.
