‘Ink Master’ season 6: Masters vs Apprentices spotlight: Dave Kruseman vs Duffy Fortner
Dave Kruseman and Duffy Fortner are a very cool match up on this season of “Ink Master” season 6. While there are a few Masters and Apprentices in this cast that have rivalries, this is not one of those situations as Dave and Duffy seem to have a lot of respect for each other and their work as artists. If you take a look at the introduction video below, it seems that Dave feels like he’s still mentoring her and pushing her to be the best she can be, which is nice to see especially on a show like “Ink Master” where tempers flare like dry kindling. This is a show meant for people with a thick skin, but having someone that you get along with could be a huge advantage.
Can Duffy take down her mentor and show him that she has surpassed the master or will Dave still be at the top of the game? Let’s take a look at what we know about these two.
The Master: Dave Kruseman
Tattooing: He has been tattooing for 20 years and is an owner at Olde Line Tattoo in Hagerstown, MD. He loves doing American traditional tattooing and there are a few artists here this year that love the same style so American traditional week will be a fun one to watch, especially with expert Oliver Peck on the panel.

The Apprentice: Duffy Fortner
Tattooing: She has been tattooing for almost 10 year and is an artist at Red Octopus Tattoos in Prince Frederick, MD. After years of tattooing she has found that while she loves flowers and feminine tattoos, she hasn’t fallen into any specific style. She is worried that portraits may be her down fall, since where she’s from there aren’t a lot of people asking for them, but knowing where your weakness falls can also be an advantage in that she incorporate what she does know to help compensate.

Dave vs Duffy: Dave Kruseman and Duffy Fortner have what seems to be a fairly good relationship, or at least a mutual respect for one another. Dave not only has 20 years experience, but he also knows that Duffy is a great tattooer and still sees the potential she has to be one of the best artists out there and that puts him in a great position, because he’s not underestimating her or her abilities as an artist. Duffy on the other hand grew up with tattoo artists as parents and has been tattooing for almost 10 years herself, so it’s hard not to see her as a huge threat to Dave, and to the competition as a whole.
