Howard Stern tries to kiss David Letterman in final ‘Late Show’ interview
Many longtime regulars on “The Late Show with David Letterman” have been making the rounds to help say farewell to the beloved host, and last night was apparently the night for none other than Howard Stern. Ultimately, what did this mean? It is really as simple as watching the king of all media repeatedly try to kiss Dave on the lips after he made him get up from behind the desk.
The two talked of course about a variety of other topics, with Stern calling Letterman out about the fact that he is apparently going to dinner with Don Rickles after the episode, and nobody bothered to invite him. Granted, we’re sure that these two guys have spent plenty of time enough together over the years.
In sharing at least for a brief moment or two why we think that Howard was a great Letterman guest, one of the biggest things that he did routinely bring to the show was honesty. He was not the prototypical interview who would come on and spout some nonsense, promote something, and leave. The majority of the time, he was not really promoting anything in particular.
Also, he is one of the few guests to actually get Letterman to open up about his own personal life. Other than a few moments here and there including the whole in-house cheating scandal, he rarely mentions Regina on the show. Howard brings her up at times, along with Letterman’s family life and some of the things that are on his mind. Dave’s always been a fantastic interviewer, and Howard is one of his few equals in show business when it comes to that.
We’ve had a cornucopia of emotional Dave farewells as of late.
