‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 6 finale: Nina Dobrev on exit, watching show without Elena

The latest -Even though Nina Dobrev is leaving “The Vampire Diaries” after six seasons aboard as a cast member, one thing is abundantly clear: She did very much enjoy her time aboard the series. She has nothing but gratitude for getting to be a part of the journey, and it also seems that she plans on even checking it out now that she is a part of it.

In preparation for her exit Dobrev spoke at length to The Hollywood Reporter about her time aboard the series, and how the news about her departing got out a little earlier than she planned. She recognized that there are differing opinions about it, but in the end, she recognizes that this is the decision that she is happy with, and she has to just stick with that rather than listening to any other voices:

“We had many conversations over the years. I remember when we first started, we wondered how long the show could go. And there are times when people said six or eight years. If it was up to the studio [Warner Bros. Television], it would be 30 years. It just depends on so many different factors. When we talked over the years, I always felt Elena’s journey would be a six-year journey, and I felt that I did so much in those six years, and I wanted to always feel that passion, and that excitement, and fond memories. And I do. I have nothing but love for every single person there. The show must go on, and it is going on, and I’m excited to see what next season is going to be like.”

It is easy to forget, but this is definitely a finale of transition given that we are also going to be losing Michael Trevino a.k.a. Tyler Lockwood from the show, as well. Granted, he is merely stepping down from a series regular post, and we may have a chance to see a little more of him than we are going to see from Elena. We imagine that she could return provided her character survives, but probably just for either a milestone or a series finale.
