‘Fear the Walking Dead’ spoilers: Filming begins; Robert Kirkman hypes new series

Later this summer, AMC is going to be doing what it can to keep the zombie train a-rolling, as “Fear the Walking Dead” will officially premiere with its six-episode first season. Today, what we have learned is that filming on the remaining season 1 episodes has officially begun! Like many other shows as of late, production is happening in Vancouver, which is about as far away from the original show’s set in Atlanta as possible while still being in North America. There will be some on-location filming in the Los Angeles area, but that will take place at a later date.

In hyping up the spin-off (which is technically more of a “companion series” given that there are no characters from the original popping over), executive producer Robert Kirkman had the following to say:

“‘Fear the Walking Dead’ takes us back to the earlier, more dangerous, more terrifying days of ‘The Walking Dead.’ A time when danger was lurking around every corner and the thing mostly likely to get you killed was your own ignorance of the rapidly changing world around you. The stakes are going to be higher and the ride more intense. We’re going to show people all the insanity of civilization crumbling that Rick Grimes slept through. Buckle up.”

Cliff Curtis and Kim Dickens are going to star in the show, and while we’re intrigued to see what happens with the show, our ultimate feelings are at the moment still mixed. We can get at times too much of a good thing, so we’re trying to be cautiously optimistic about this more so than thinking that it will blow us away and make us rethink zombie entertainment (if that is a thing) forever.
