‘The Good Wife’ season 6 finale review: How did Kalinda leave, and is Peter running for President?
“The Good Wife” tonight finally brought closure to a variety of important stories, but we of course have to begin with the primary order of business: How in the world Kalinda exited the show. Ultimately, she did so in a way that was awesome: Confessing to everything with Bishop, slipping on some shades, and then having one last drink with Alicia Florrick before going about her way.
If there is a word that we would use to describe some of these final moments for the characters, it would be “we really love it.” It did not try to do too much, but at the same time, offered some closure between two former friends who have been at arm’s length for the majority of the series. There could have been more, and maybe some out there wanted more from her, but this felt almost perfect to us in many ways. We didn’t need to see anything else from her to be happy.
Meanwhile, Alicia has other things now to think about for the future, and a move to Washington DC could be in the cards as Peter could run soon for President, mostly so that he can eventually work his way to becoming the veep. This throws her right back in the political realm not too long after what happened with the State’s Attorney case, and that marks one heck of a cliffhanger for the characters as they ponder what to do here.
Ultimately, this episode to us feels like the end of an era with Bishop and Alicia’s recent political pursuits. Of course, there’s also Kalinda. While we are sad about certain doors closing, we have infinite curiosity now to see what doors could open before the big farewell. Grade: A-.
