‘Scream Queens’ spoilers: Texts from the devil in latest promo

Scream Queens -In the midst of talking about pilot season, pickups, and cancellations, sometimes it is pretty easy to forget about some of the shows that have already been picked up. One of those such shows is Ryan Murphy’s comedy-horror anthology “Scream Queens,” which released yet another promo earlier this week hyping up their fall premiere.

The premise for this one is certainly simple enough: Seeing a variety of text messages that at first, seem almost precisely like the sort of things that you would expect from a typical sorority. However, at the end we get a very ominous one from “the devil,” and then a hilarious hashtag before a murder. It’s not exactly scary, but it is somewhat gross and perfectly in tune for what the tone of this show seems to be.

The interesting thing about this show at least to us right now comes in the way of timing. Are Fox and Murphy potentially almost going too far ahead of schedule here? This series is still at least four months away, and you do run a serious risk of fatigue if you release too many of these. That is why it is also about executing them properly.

The cast of this show is still going to be one of its primary selling points, given that we have Emma Roberts, Lea Michele, Jamie Lee Curtis, Abigail Breslin, and many more. It is for that reason we’re surprised that there is not more in the way of star power in this one.
