‘Survivor: Second Chance’: Why Stephanie Valencia is worthy of your vote
Even though Stephanie Valencia is not even close to being the most-famous Stephanie in the history of “Survivor” (that honor easily goes to Stephenie LaGrossa), there is still something else that she brings to the table: History working alongside one of the most notorious players ever, and also a scrappy style of play that could make for good television if she is voted onto this upcoming season. Of course, that is going to be up to the fans.
In the latest edition of our “Survivor: Second Chance” voting series (we’re cranking out several of these a day), we’re going to do our part to tell you whether or not Stephanie is someone who will likely make it on, and also whether or not you should vote for her. Oh, and you can find out all about the voting process here.
Past experience – “Survivor: Redemption Island” (14th place)
Why you should vote for her – Stephanie is a fighter. She is going to be willing to do just about everything that she can to stay in the game, and with the right alliance behind her, she could do well. The problem that she had with “Redemption Island” is that she was on the outside with Russell Hantz and Krista, and could not figure out a way to get herself back into the game as an extremely tight alliance stuck together. That happens sometimes. She is someone who is in some ways similar to Danielle from “Exile Island,” and has potential to be a better player than she was the first time.
Why you wouldn’t vote for her – Here are the problems: She is still an early boot, and she was on a season that at this point is several years old. Her season is not so far back that it has something akin to nostalgia, and she’s not going to have recent bias. We’ve mentioned “casual fans,” and she is going to have a tough time with them. It’s easy to cast your votes towards someone fresher in your mind who you have more confidence in.
Our prediction – Stephanie could go pretty far her second time around; we’re not sure she has the people skills to win judging from the first season, but we can see her performing much better. She’s just going to have a top time making the top ten.
