ABC’s ‘Scandal’ season 4: Scott Foley on Jake’s near-death experience

Jake -There was a time on “Scandal” season 4 where we legitimately thought that Jake Ballard was going to kick the bucket. Sure, a ton of shows hit us continuously with the whole they-look-dead-but-they’re-not-really situation, but this is one executive-produced by Shonda Rhimes. We know very well at this point that she has zero problem killing off someone if it makes sense for the story. Heck, she killed off Derek on “Grey’s Anatomy” the moment that it was determined that Patrick Dempsey was not going to be returning.

Luckily, Scott Foley’s character managed to be one of the few who actually gets to live to see another day, and based on what the actor is saying right now, he could not be more pleased about it. As a matter of fact, he tells The Hollywood Reporter that he felt like there were actually going to be more people happy to see his character go because of all of the love for Olivia and Fitz:

“I wasn’t expecting that sort of reaction … To see… the outpouring of hope that people had, not wanting Jake to die, was really flattering and a great feeling for me. I’ve got kids I’ve got a family. I don’t want to go anywhere. I was pleasantly surprised.”

Now, of course we have to hope that Foley’s character makes it through the rest of the season alive. We do worry greatly about that, given that there is the whole campaign to take down B613 and he would appear to be on the surface one of the easier targets for them.
