ABC’s ‘Revenge’ season 4: Emily VanCamp to resume Marvel duties

For those wondering what Emily VanCamp’s next gig was going to be after four seasons of “Revenge,” it appears that we already have something resembling an official answer. According to a new report from Deadline, the actress as slated to reprise her role as Agent 13 (who is almost surely Sharon Carter, niece of Peggy) on “Captain America: Civil War.”

VanCamp previously played this character on “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” and one of the questions that we have long wondered is whether or not her schedule now opens her up to potentially play this role over on “Agents of SHIELD,” as well. Due to her famous aunt she obviously has enormous connections to the organization, and Emily has certainly proven herself through four seasons on the ABC show that she has an affinity for kicking butt and taking names. This time, though, she could be at least a little more hero than antihero if she so chose.

One other possibility for Emily’s future is that she appears in the proposed spin-off starring Nick Blood or Adrianne Palicki, or that she has an arc laid out for her similar to Cobie Smulders (Maria Hill), who appears sporadically on the Marvel series while having plenty of time to do some other things as well.

The series finale of “Revenge” airs on ABC Sunday night, which means that we are finally going to see the end of Emily Thorne’s journey. While it was not confirmed during production of this episode that it would be the last of the show, there was a general feeling that it could be, and the cast was prepared accordingly.
