Jamie Foxx’s National Anthem performance at Mayweather – Pacquiao fight draws harsh reachtion

The latest -Let it be known now that we are not exactly keeping that close track of the Manny Pacquiao versus Floyd Mayweather fight tonight that is being run tonight by both HBO and Showtime, and there is a simple reason for that: We’re not a sports site. Also, we don’t really understand boxing.

What we have come to understand a little bit better is the performances by really famous people doing the National Anthem, and the one from Jamie Foxx before the fight tonight was questionable at best. There were a variety of surprising / shaky moments, and it took very little time at all for him to become a trending topic on Twitter as a result. There wasn’t any botched notes so much as just some uneven vocals, but in the defense of Foxx, there are few gigs out there harder than something like this. If you nail it, you are still going to get far less praise than criticism if you mess it up.

We wish that we had a video to show you, but of course we know better right now than to share anything from a pay-per-view site where HBO and Showtime are sending out notices left and right. Maybe at some point there will be something officially released.

For now, though, the fight is still reportedly going strong as we write this, and there is not a clear favorite to win. Then again and as we said, we really do not know very much about boxing. Also, Justin Bieber was booed when he was spotted in the audience.
