‘Saturday Night Live’ music: Wiz Khalifa, Charlie Puth perform ‘See You Again’

SNL -You can say many things about “Saturday Night Live,” but they were at least current when it comes to their choice of musical guest this weekend. Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth currently have the #1 song in the country in “See You Again,” and it was no surprise that this was the lead-off song that they performed during the Scarlett Johansson-hosted episode. This is the song from “Furious 7” that ignited the charts not long after it first appeared in the film. It got another push on “The Voice,” and now on the show, as well.

So how was the performance on the show itself? We imagine it was everything you expected and then some. We always enjoy it when we get a chance to see rappers get emotional, mostly because it is such a change of pace from what we tend to hear from them. It helps that Wiz was joined by Charlie, and that he has a little bit more musicality than the majority of the other contemporaries that he has out there.

Will this song probably get even further up the charts at some point following this? It’s hard to go up, but maybe it will stay there a little while longer.

The second performance was a song entitled “We Dem Boyz,” which is a track we admittedly never heard before on the show tonight. It was not anywhere near as interesting to us, if for no other reason than that this was lyrically not as engaging. Wiz still has energy either way, but it is easier to have a preference of the former song.
