‘Outlander’ episode 14 preview: Caitriona Balfe, Sam Heughan, and ‘The Search’

While the past two episodes of “Outlander” have been among our least favorites of the first season, tonight’s installment certainly did leave us in a pretty interesting place. It’s pretty hard to not feel that way given that we just saw Jamie Fraser captured by Redcoats, and this truly puts Claire into a position where she has to try to rescue him. This isn’t like the cliffhanger from last week, which turned out to be much ado about nothing (and we really want to think that Starz is better than to do something like that).

“The Search” is fitting as a title for the installment, especially given that we will most likely see what is this show’s equivalent of a road trip as Caitriona Balfe’s character leads the way. Take a look at the attached synopsis for more:

“Claire and Jenny head off to save Jamie from the redcoat captors and meet up with Murtagh, who joins them. The trio employ unusual tactics to get word to Jamie.”

What will be interesting to learn in here is just how much of Sam Heughan (if any) we are going to see over the course of this episode. Will we see his perspective on matters following his capture? We’re somewhat torn over it, given that we’ve already seen many a brutal beating on this show already, and this could just be witnessing more torment. As of right now, Claire’s journey will be a little more interesting given that there is still so much of this world that is foreign to her eyes.
