Ratings: ‘Beyond the Tank’ goes above and beyond; ‘Grimm’ season 4, ‘Amazing Race’ drop
The first news of the day, at least when it comes to the ratings, is fairly simple to report: “Beyond the Tank” did far and away better than we thought that it would. As a whole, the show drew an impressive 1.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic, which may be justifying far more than a three-episode order for the new season. This is only a tenth down from the “Shark Tank” episode that aired on the night.
Granted, this was just the premiere, and this could decline over time once more people know what the show is. The challenge here is mostly going to be the sole fact that the formula here feels easy to figure out: A company works with one of the sharks to improve their business after the tank. There’s a problem, and then the problem is solved. Given that all of the stories last night ended positively, you may know what to expect every week.
Still, we suppose that this show is valuable if you are interested in getting a further window into how businesses function after reality TV; the $100,000 in orders that the boneless rib steak guy faced after the original show aired was staggering to hear about.
The news was not good for the majority of other shows. “Grimm” (0.9) dropped from its previous episode, and “The Amazing Race” (1.0) continues to teeter on the verge of extinction. “Blue Bloods” did rise for the finale, albeit up only to a 1.3.
